Mike Fleckney was engaged by the National Maritime Museum to carry out a Life Safety and Property Protection Fire Risk Assessment in August 2011.
The assessment included the Main Museum, newly built Sammy Ofer Wing which has a large basement exhibition gallery, administrative offices in the West Central Wing and East Wing together with basement areas, roof spaces, cafes and ancillary areas.
I accompanied Mike and found his manner to be pleasant and his attitude to fire safety management pragmatic.
Mike seemed happy to offer advice and answer questions and genuinely interested in Museum activities and operations.
The written report of the assessment was presented in such a way that it could be easily read and understood by any member of Museum staff and included observations, photographs and recommendations for improvement. Various staff at the Museum readily accepted Mike's recommendations and works have been progressed in accordance with them.
I have recently contacted Mike and arranged for him to carry out fire risk assessment of another of the Museum sites.
